Welcome to Donald’s 3 x 3 Peak Challenges!

Thank you for visiting this site. I’m using it to tell you a bit about the summer of challenges I’ve got lined up – why I’m doing them – and, most important of all, how you can support. It’s a summer of 3s! But first, a bit of history:

Many of you will know that last year I set out to cycle Mont Ventoux, a 6,273 foot mountain in France, to raise £2,000 to share between 2 x charities – and, through some wonderfully generous support, actually raised £26,000!

So, what about this year – well, I thought that if I was going to come back and ask for your support again, I needed to do something seriously difficult, so:

  • On June 9th I’m hoping to join the Club des Cingles (Maniacs Club) which is open to those who can cycle all 3 routes up Mont Ventoux in one day. It’s only 50 miles but means climbing around 14,500 feet. Since the club was founded 22 years ago, 2,959 people have managed it, including 137 Brits – so it’s still a fairly exclusive club. BUT THIS ISN’T WHERE I NEED YOUR SUPPORT.
  • In July or August I’m walking the Yorkshire 3 Peaks (Penyghent, Ingleborough and Whernside), which you have to complete in under 12 hours. It covers 24 miles and climbs over 5,000 feet in total. If anyone would like to join me on this then you’d be very welcome – let me know and I’ll confirm the details to you. BUT THIS ISN’T WHERE I NEED YOUR SUPPORT.
  • In September I’m planning to complete the National 3 Peaks (the 3 highest peaks in Wales, England and Scotland – Snowdon, Scafell Pike and Ben Nevis). The wimps way is to complete it in 24 hours but with someone driving you from one to the next. I’ll be taking 94 hours, climbing the 11,200 feet of the peaks but cycling the 460 miles between them. THIS IS WHERE I MOST DEFINITELY DO NEED YOUR SUPPORT!

To tie in with the theme of three, I’ll be doing this last challenge to raise funds for 3 x charities:

This time I’m hoping to raise a total of £6,000 to be shared between the 3 x charities. Details of all 3 will be posted elsewhere on the site and I’ll be letting you know how you can support, in due course. There will also be details of the 3 challenges, a blog and details of the competition, to win one of (you guessed it) 3 x bottles of champagne!

I’ll be back in touch with more details when I get back from the 1st challenge in France (if I get back from France – keep your fingers crossed for me please!).

THANK YOU!
