The first of a series of 3 Lent talks to be held at Wetherby Methodist Church, commencing at 7.30pm


 John Battle – 20 March, Faith and Politics

Bradford born, a devout Catholic, and a BA First class hons in English. John gained a seat on the City of Leeds Council in 1980. He chaired the innovative Industry & Employment Committee and later the Housing Committee, and was national coordinator for Church Action on poverty in 1983. He was elected to Leeds west in the 1987 election and is now   working on community projects such as Bramley Baths & Leeds Citizens. He is a fellow of Blackfriars Hall, University of Oxford, and a patron of the International Young Leaders Networks.

The talks have been arranged by St James’ Church & Wetherby Methodist Church and everyone is welcome from any church or none. Refreshments will be served.
