Wetherby Lent Lecture: Faith & Safeguarding

Exploring Christian Faith in relation to important contemporary issues

The second of a series of 3 Lent talks to be held at Wetherby Methodist Church, commencing at 7.30pm

Professor Sue Proctor – 27 March, Faith & Safeguarding

Since leaving the diocese in 2013, Sue led the investigation into Jimmy Savile and Leeds General Infirmary, and as a result of that, wrote a paper for Archbishop Sentamu on what she believed the church could learn from this.

Subsequently, the Archbishop asked her to chair the Safeguarding Group for York Diocese, which she took on in 2015. Last year Sue was asked by Bishop James Langstaff  (Diocese of Rochester) to lead a review of a former church run children’s home, Kendal House, where there had been allegations of abuse.

The talks have been arranged by St James’ Church & Wetherby Methodist Church and everyone is welcome from any church or none. Refreshments will be served.
